Hi! My name is Jessica, but I mainly go by Jess. Thanks so much for visiting my blog. A little about me, I am a working professional residing in sunny Sacramento, CA. I have two dogs that you might see in my photos sometimes. I also have an 11 year old son. I enjoy trying all the wonderful restaurants we have here in the Farm to Fork Capital! I love fashion, beauty, travel and fitness.
Haute Mess Jess is my creative outlet to share recipes, my beauty favorites, and what’s currently in my closet. I have always taken risks with my fashion (believe me, you should see some old photos from high school) and played it safe with my makeup. I’m seriously a “haute mess” and run around in the morning like a chicken missing it’s head, so I try to be pretty wash and wear… or in my case dry shampoo.
I am pretty thifty, learned that from my mother, and don’t think that self-confidence is always in style. I love a good sale and rediscovering old pieces from the back of my closet that I can wear again. I hope you enjoy my site and take away a little inspiration from my ramblings.
xoxo – j
Frequently Asked Questions
How tall are you? I am 5’6 on a good day. I think I get mistaken for taller than I actually am 🙂
What is your workout routine? I try to work out 5 days a week. I try to alternate my workout between running, BBG and spin. If you don’t know what BBG is, it is a HIIT workout developed by Kayla Itsines. I have both BBG1 and BBG2. I printed out the guides and put them in a binder that I can just grab easily. Her workouts really make you sweat and they are only 28 minutes long. You also need minimal equipment and can do them at home. I run 3-5 miles each time I run and I am currently trying to work on getting my mile time up. I attend a spin cycling studio in Sacramento called TEAMride.
Are you doing a fad diet like Whole30 or Keto? No. But I am on a special diet. I have an autoimmune disease called Ulcerative Colitis which prohibits me from eating certain foods. I cannot enjoy gluten, dairy, overly fibrous vegetables or legumes. I am also a “fair weather pescatarian”. I mainly eat fish but will have steak or chicken on a special occasion or if I’m somewhere and that’s the only option. My meals during the week consist of a small breakfast, a salad for lunch, and vegetables with fish for dinner.
